TGIF everyone! This was certainly an interesting week for us. We had our first, and hopefully last, trip to the ER.
Long story short little nugget face planted on the concrete after we were out back giving the boys hair cuts. We were both standing right there and it happened so quick yet felt like slow motion. Talk about instant welt! Major props to my husband who kept it all together, even after he admitted to me that inside he was really freaking out. They did a cat scan and all is fine. Thankfully it was one of those situations where it looked worse than it was. Oh, and did I mention this happened on the same day he turned 11 months? He doesn’t seem to be phased by it and is still the smiley little wiggle worn that he is. I’m just so grateful that it wasn’t anything worse.
Aside from that mishap we had a pretty good week. And here we are again at Friday, so no complaining on my end. Here’s at look at some of my favorites.
1. Happy Birthday, Coaty: If you caught my instagram (@beautifully_candid) Our sweet fur baby turned seven this week. Seven (insert sobbing emoji face). I get so sad every year on his birthday. He’s such a great dog, especially with the nuggets. He may get under our feet a lot and lick you to the point that you feel like you need a bath, but he is the best and I want him around forever.
2. Bowling: we took A bowling for the first time and all of us had so much fun. We signed up for the kids bowl free summer program check it out {here}. He was all into it at first but by the second game you could see that we were starting to lose him. It was also around nap time so I’m sure that had something to do with it. We will definitely be taking advantage of this more.
3. Summer concerts: a local park near us was doing a summer concert series. We met up with some old friends and enjoyed a night of good food and music. This isn’t the best pic but I had to share it of the nuggets. I will just watch A’s every move. It’s so cute to see them interact. Whenever A knows I is interested in what he’s doing, he’ll put on a show. Like swinging pizza from his mouth and getting sauce all over. Eh, what are baby wipes for?
4. Kitchen reno: we channeled our inner Chip and Joanna and finally tackled the kitchen backsplash. If you’ve been reading along for awhile you might remember we are temporarily in one of our rental properties and while we are here we are doing a reno. So far I am liking the way everything is turning out. I love that my main man is so handy and can pretty much accomplish anything he puts his mind to. But, for those projects where we call in some extra help it’s always important to take precautions when picking a contractor. In case you missed that post you can read more {here}. I especially love it when we have the time to work on projects together. Thank God for babysitters 🙂 On to the bathrooms next…
5. Long weekend must haves: In the next few weeks my sister and I will be taking a trip together for a long weekend in Chicago. With all of the Nordstrom sale talk and Saks having their midsummer surprise sale (online only, last day today). I couldn’t help but pick up a few things for the trip. I can’t wait for them to come in the mail so I can get them packed. I’ve heard great things about {this} tote and I’m finally giving in and getting a pair of mirrored sunglasses {these, only $12!} Anyone have any must do suggestions for a long weekend in Chicago? We already have a lot planned but maybe we are missing something!
