Friday Favorites—Firsts of April

Happy Friday, friends!! I hope you all had a great week. This one was a busy work week for me so it wasn’t too eventful around these parts, but a good one nonetheless. I had to take the boys into work with me part of the day on Tuesday because their school closed early for spring break this week and we didn’t have anyone to help us out that day. Let’s just say I’m happy to still have a job. They were as well behaved as they could be, but weren’t necessarily angels either. They did find hiding under my desk and pretending it was a fort to be super fun. I still need to have my office vacuumed because most of the snack crumbs made it onto my floor. It’s always about those snacks around here.

We have some exciting things going on this weekend including taking the boys to their first NBA game, and Eric is spoiling us with some awesome seats. You can follow along on my instastories (@beautifully_candid) to see some of the fun.

1. Car show: I mentioned last Friday I took the day off and we headed into the city with the boys. We have been visiting the yearly auto show ever since Eric and I started dating, which at this point, I’ve lost track of how long it’s been. We all had a lot of fun and I loved that it wasn’t crazy crowded and the boys could take advantage of doing some of the attractions. They had a lot more geared towards kids this year which was awesome. After our time there we walked a few blocks to the Hell’s Kitchen area to grab something to eat. We stopped off at 5Napkins where we also ate last year and enjoyed it just as much again. Our poor waitress got slammed after we got seated and several things were forgotten for our table. She totally made up for it when she delivered these brownie sundaes and shakes for the boys and was so nice and apologetic which showed she truly cared.

2. Easter: we had a great time celebrating Easter with our family and watching the boys make some fun memories. I’m still finding random pieces of Easter grass on our floor even after vacuuming several times. I shared more about our day {here}.

3. Snow: at this point I don’t really know what to say about this weather. I don’t like complaining but enough is enough already. After we had a mix of sun and clouds over the weekend we got slammed with snow on Monday morning. It just feels like a cruel joke because they are calling for even more over the weekend. These three are the only ones left in our house that get excited for this white stuff. I’d like to see my flowers bloom before July, please.

You all know I love a good sale so when I came across these finds this week it didn’t take much to twist my arm. I think this is the most my winter clothes have gotten so much wear in one season. This eyelet hem sweatshirt for 50% caught my eye and I went for it. At this point I could probably even wear it over the summer with shorts on a cooler night. I thought this striped peplum top was really cute and also loved the price. Card members also get an additional 10% off and our status gets us free shipping which is always a beautiful thing.

After we added some simple updates to our living room I moved on to tackling our master closet and our bedroom. I was never a huge fan of our bed because it had a very masculine feel to it and I wanted something a little different. Actually, what I got was very different but I am so in love. My brother gave me an Amazon gift card for my birthday that I had sitting in my wallet. One night after I was browsing through things, because don’t we all randomly browse through Amazon? I came across this headboard and the rest is history. Of course with a new headboard there needed to be some new pillows. Remember my new found love for pillow covers?! Yup! I found some patterned taupe ones that were on sale for $3.99 this week and pulled the trigger on them as well.

5. Snuggles: as much as I am so over the cold weather, one of  the good things that comes out of it, is all the snuggles. This picture is a few weeks old and I realized I never shared it but the boys have been extra snugly with Coaty lately and I have been loving every moment of watching them together.  I think Coaty has been enjoying all of the attention too.
