Happy Friday, friends! Boy do I love me some long weekends but I hate when I go back to work and it feels like you have so much to deal with. The good thing is this week flew by so that’s always a nice thing.
The boys have been asking every morning when they wake up if we are going to the beach or fishing again, so guess where we are headed again, yup, the beach! I can’t say I’m made about it either. We’ll pretty much be there as much as we can this summer. It’s also mine and Eric’s anniversary weekend so that’s even more of an excuse to celebrate and have some more family adventures.
Here’s a look at some of my favorites from the week…
1. Memorial Day weekend: there was no way this could not be a top favorite with all the fun we had. If you missed my post about our adventures you can read more {here}. I also realized I forgot to share a pic of a rainbow we saw when we were down on the dock by the pier. It must have been raining off in the distance and when we looked up there was a rainbow. There’s something about rainbows that are so amazing and such a beautiful reminder of God’s promises.
2. Random picnic lunch date: I love random moments that turn out to be great ones. This week was pretty hectic for me and for some reason my mornings were really thrown off. When I dropped the boys off at school yesterday, I realized I forgot something I needed at home. Eric was working from home and said he would meet me to drop it off. We decided to just make a lunch date out of it and he even offered to make his famous pb&j sandwiches. How could I turn that down? Seriously, I know it’s just pb&j but he makes them really good. So good that A asks him to make one for him every morning for breakfast. Yup, you read that right, he eats peanut butter and jelly for breakfast almost every morning. We snuck onto a golf course near my work and had our little picnic lunch. It also didn’t hurt that I was wearing an outfit that I really liked and the amazing man that he is, snapped some pics of me that I’ll share with you next week 🙂
3. Give me all the scallops, please: I’m not sure if I’m proud of myself for not hesitating to jump on trends like I used to, or more disappointed in myself that I am slowly becoming more trendy. Either way, I purchased this perfect new scalloped bag during the Nordstrom sale. Funny thing is, the color I wanted wasn’t even on sale. It was still a great price so I got it anyway, and I’m really glad I did. The best part is, it’s big enough to hold my important things—like my camera—yet small enough that it doesn’t feel obnoxious. I love the neutral color too and really feel like I can wear this any season. They also have it in two different colors so the decision wasn’t easy.
4. Rose Gold: I had to make a quick stop to Ulta this week for some new eye liner and randomly turned down an aisle that I probably didn’t need to be in. This rose gold palette caught my eye and I couldn’t put it down. When I got up to the register I found out it was on sale (I just love when that happens), and I had a coupon. Somehow I got it for $8 and now my new favorite that I’ve been wearing it all week.
5. Smile: if you caught my instagram (@beautifully_candid) yesterday you might have seen that I shared a random fact that I got nicest smile in high school. You know, like that who’s who of the year book section. Not exactly the highest honor but I do think it fits my personality. I have always been a smiley person for as long as I can remember and actually feel extremely awkward in pictures if I am not smiling. I don’t do a very good serious face and my seductive face if pretty comical. I certainly have the crows feet now to show for it, but what can I do. If you’re looking for an at home teeth whitening option then check out my post {here} where you can enter for your very own kit.
I hope everyone has a fun filled weekend! Here’s where you can find me linking throughout the week. Speaking of linking up, we have our Girl Chat link up on Thursday where we’ll be sharing some of our favorite summer staples. We’d love to see you join us!
