Friday Favorites-Birthday Edition

Happy Friday, friends! This is a special Friday for me because it’s my birthday πŸ™‚ Usually I’m not big on broadcasting it’s my day because I feel a little silly about being in the spotlight, sometimes, but when it falls on a Friday and you are taking an extra, extra, extra, extra, long holiday weekend, it deserves a mention.
We’ll be spending the next week at the beach soaking up as much that’s left to the summer as we can. I’ll officially be celebrating my birthday next weekend at a pop-up gala, similar to dinner en blanc, with some of my closest friends.
For now, let’s take a look at some of my favorites from the week…
1. Hershey Park: if you follow along on my instagram (@beautifully_candid) then you probably saw we were in Hershey for the weekend. This was our first time going to the park and we had such a good time! I wasn’t sure what to expect but there is so much more to do there than we thought. We went with A’s best friend’s family and it was so nice getting the kids together and the adults spending time together too.
I’m hoping to put something together in the future about amusement parks for families because we are very lucky to have so many relatively close to us. We’ll also be headed to 6 Flags Great Adventure soon and possibly Dutch Wonderland again.

2. Hotel fun: we stayed at a hotel with the boys and aside from moving our room three times, we had a great stay. We moved because the first room they gave us had a king bed which was great, but not for all of us to sleep in. The second room they gave us was on a different floor but same bed situation (human error and quickly fixed) and the third was finally nice and big with a tub and two beds. I just can’t help myself when it comes to hotels and might have encouraged the boys and told them it was ok to jump with me #badmom

3. Backyard picnics: I’ve had a love hate relationship with this unusual weather we’ve been having for this time of year. I’ve never been one to really rush the seasons (lies, we can skip right over winter) so I’ve been kind of bummed that my sleeveless dresses have been hung up but I’ve also loved cozying up in my sweaters. The other night A wanted to have a picnic and that’s exactly what we did, you can read more {here}.

4. Airstream: in case you missed my little announcement the other day, we bought an airstream!!! We are so excited for all of the exploring and adventures that are to come. We are hoping to start renovation on it soon and really transform it into our little space.

I asked on my social media for suggestions for what we should name it and sadly I am a little surprised no one really came up with much πŸ™ A thought we should name it banana hotdog but I’m not so sure about that one just yet. I would love to hear some name options from you if any come to mind!

5. Birthday: it felt weird leaving this off of my favorites so here we go. I am so thankful to be blessed with another year and I am truly grateful for this beautiful life. I thought it would be fun to share 32 things about me. Some of them you may know and others maybe not…

My relationship with God will always be the most important.
I’m the oldest of 5 kids and yes, they are all by the same parents (since divorced though)
My favorite color is blue
I was home schooled until 8th grade
Eric and I met in high school but really didn’t officially start dating until he was in college. It’s been so long that we only go off of our wedding anniversary date.  But if you really want to go back to our first kiss, it was in 2001 πŸ˜‰
The first time I was ever on an airplane was for my senior class trip to Disney. After that I knew traveling needed to be a priority and the adventures began.
Speaking of senior class and college, my college roommate was my friend from high school. I still laugh about all the funny moments we had and some of my best memories are with her (hi Fal!)
Eric proposed to me in the Dominican Republic
We bought our first house when I was 23 (we saved like crazy and the first time home buyers credit helped, too) and that’s when our love for renovation started.
We’ve been into real estate investment for the past 5 years and it’s something I would eventually like to go part time in my professional field and do this more full time.
Speaking of which, my day job is in Human Resources and majority of my responsibilities are spent dealing with a lot of employee relations situations and employment law.
The company I work for is in the retail and fashion industry so that’s been fun.
This will be the first year I’ll be attending NYFW and I could not be more excited! My sister and I will be at the Dennis Basso show and I’m sure I will be oversharing all the fun.
I’m coming up on my 4th year of blogging and this community has been more than I could have ever imagined. I truly enjoy connecting with all of you.
My dslr camera comes with me everywhere. I am considering up grading but the size is a big factor for me because it has to fit in my tote bag.
Speaking of bag, at any given time you can find me carrying around at least two, if not three pairs of sunnies. A girl needs options, right?
I was in a sorority in college, shout out to any Theta Phi Alphas
Grammar has never been my thing as you can probably tell by majority of my posts. I also don’t come on here to write an essay and just say it how I would if we were talking to each other.
I was a huge Hanson fan back in the day  (don’t judge)
I used to play softball and did cheerleading. I really hope one of the boys want to play baseball because I am ready to get out on the field with them.
The beach is my happy place but I also love the mountains too
My name actually means mountain range
My middle name is joy
I love Mexican food (really any type of food)
I used to have a huge fear of needles and would pass out or get sick when I went to the Dr. It was so bad. It’s by the grace of God I had two really easy deliveries (I still need to share them one day) and two epidurals. Wouldn’t you know, they still aren’t my favorite but I don’t pass out as much now when I need to get blood drawn. Progress.
Laundry and I do not get along and if you ever come to visit don’t expect my house to be perfect
I can burp the phrase, where in the world is carmen san diego (let’s just leave that right there)
We didn’t have either of the boys names picked out before we had them. We narrowed down our top three names and named them after we saw them. I refer to them here and on social media as A and little nugget just for privacy reasons. They are both biblical names.
I used to do the perculator back in the day and at weddings and parties people would request it just for me. I still say it is the best workout, ever.
I get really annoyed when people spell my name with a C
My family and close friends call me Si, or Sie…but never C
I am the worst with getting song lyrics or movie lines right. I have friends that could recite movie lines and I’m sitting there like, whatttt
If you’re still here with me (I hope you are) then there you have it, a little more about me.
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend and enjoys a day off. Here’s where you can find me linking for all of the link up fun.
