First Friday Favorites of The Year

Happy Friday!! I hope 2017 is off to a good start for you. Mine has been a little interesting so far with a virus that seems to be making its rounds over here. I’m not complaining though. We are still so fresh into the new year with plenty of time for all the fun. 

Here’s a look at some of my favorites from the week…

1. New Year’s celebrations: in case you missed it I shared our 12pm kids countdown that we had so much fun doing with the nuggets and hope to make this a yearly tradition. I wasn’t feeling well and at one point wasn’t sure if I was even going to make it out for new year’s. If you remember, I was torn between two dresses I order, but after trying them on several times I knew {this} was the perfect one to wear. I pulled myself together and faked it until I made it.

I’m glad that I did because I haven’t missed a new year’s with two of my closest friends since we’ve basically been celebrating new years. My one friend Anita and I have spent every new year together since we rang in the millennium in 2000!  

This was the second year we celebrated at the Union Trust in Philly and had another great time. It’s a very classy atmosphere with a crowd that’s more our style (at this stage in our lives), with good food, great music, and little details that really make it feel special. Like giving out chocolate chip cookies and philly soft pretzels to go along with your champagne toast at midnight. It’s the little things. 

2. Brunch: one of my all time favorite things to do is brunch. There’s just something about mixing breakfast and lunch food together that I cannot get enough of. It just felt like the perfect way to kick the new year off so we met up with my sister and mom and went to one of our favorite places, Keg and Kitchen.

They had one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen for kids, a juice flight. A loved sipping his different juices and found it even more interesting that it came out on a wooden board.

3. Home design: if you’re newer around here (welcome, I hope you’ll stick around for awhile) then you might not know that my husband Eric and I aside from being parents, both working full time jobs, and trying to fit in all the fun we can handle—are also into real estate investment. We’ve been doing it for 5 years now and I feel like each project keeps getting better than the last.

We’re currently working on our newest project that will turn into another rental for us and I am just loving how it’s turning out. My favorite part of all of this is being able to pick out the designs. This week consisted of several (that’s an understatement) trips to Home Depot and a visit to a granite yard to pick out the countertops for the kitchen. We ended up going with white quartz which will be a nice contrast against the gray cabinets we went with. If you caught my instagram stories I shared our work in progress, but I cannot wait to show you all once it’s done.

4. Sick day: my poor littlest nugget didn’t even last one full day back in daycare before he was sent home. He was perfectly fine when we sent him in the morning but I guess that stomach bug caught up to him too. I took the next day to be at home with him and wouldn’t you know he wasn’t phased by anything and seemed to be back to himself. Of course I loved having the day with him and eating up his sweet personality. Both him and A seem to be on a big Paw Patrol kick, and as you can see from the picture he was super excited to be watching it.
