Happy Friday, friends! I hope it’s been a good week for you. It seems like September might have felt like the fastest month so far. Here we are at the start of October and enjoying all the fall things. This is a season I wish was a little longer (or at least went by a little slower) because it seems like we always try to squeeze a lot in such a short amount of time.
We have a fun weekend planned with lots of celebrating, soccer, and all the family time.
Let’s take a look at some of my favorites…
A’s 7th Birthday
Happy 7th Birthday to my big boy! It’s hard to believe that 7 years ago my first son was born. I remember it like it was yesterday. I had no clue what to expect for labor and when I got to the hospital, I was already 8cm dialated. He came really fast and before I knew it my sweet boy made me a mom.
He has brought us so much joy and we are very proud of the young man he is becoming. His silly personality keeps us laughing and his strong willed ambitions are always keeping us on our toes. There are many times I feel like he is wise beyond his years and the older he gets he will be doing circles around me. His creativity is amazing and his love for the outdoors and nature is something to be admired.
We look forward to celebrating him this weekend and a lifetime of many more memories and love.
Pumpkin Picking
Last year we visited a farm to go apple picking and oddly enough they did not have any pumpkins. Let’s just say we’ll be apple picking somewhere different this year. We stumbled upon another local farm up the street that did have pumpkins and we ended up having the best time. We enjoyed it so much that we’ve been back twice so far this season.
My little love had me cracking up at how particular he was with deciding on what pumpkins. He was so little last year that he just came along for the ride.
He also became very attached to these two ears of corn that had to come home with us. Gosh, I can jus eat this boy up!
Scarecrow
One of the things we put on our fall bucket list was to make our own scarecrow. We’ve never attempted one and thought it would be a fun project to do with the boys. We ended up having a lot of fun making him!
I am not really artistic, but I think I did a pretty good job with painting his pumpkin face.
We enjoyed this so much that I think it will have to become a yearly tradition for us.

Front Porch Decor
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted a large front porch that I could sit outside with a rocking chair and enjoy the fresh air. Now that I have one, I love it even more than I thought I would. In fact, I’m sitting out here now typing this out.
I had grand plans to stick with a color scheme for decorating our front porch and wanted to go with a plethora of white and bluish pumpkins. Those plans quickly changed when I saw how excited my boys were to pick out pumpkins and help decorate the front porch. I figured I will have plenty of time when they get older to have my fancy color coordinated decorations, but for now, enjoying their enthusiasm and excitement every time we pull up to the house doesn’t compare.
They have been so into the decorations that they even went out and found a few unused bird nests that were left in the trees. They came running inside the other day and asked if they could put them on the front steps and put little pumpkins in them. I thought it was a great idea and actually love how it looks!

Since the boys have been doing fully virtual school, their teachers have them doing mini readers workshops. I realized a lot of the books we have in our little library are more beginners books and too easy for A’s reading level. I thought it would be fun to get some festive books for the season that they can both enjoy. They have been loving, Bear Says Thanks, The Pumpkin Patch Parable, It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse, Room On The Broom, and Five Little Pumpkins.
You would think with three boys that I have a lot of hand me downs, and I do, but what I am noticing is that it’s getting harder and harder to save things for the next one the older they are getting. They just wear their clothes a lot harder. Anyway, I love this time of year for an adorable little man sweater. I feel like I’ve been gravitating towards neutral colors for them, because honestly, I’m over seeing a ton of blue. Ha! This henley pullover is cozy and comfy for them to wear and I don’t have to hear about how they feel itchy. I also love it in this color as well.
I hope you have a great weekend!
