Hi friends! Thank you for stopping by to see what’s going on in our little world. I’m sharing some of my recent favorites, happenings, and all the things in between. Let’s kick it off, shall we!
Snow Days
It’s been two years since we’ve gotten any real snow around here. And here we are, a few weeks into the year, and we had all the snowflakes coming down with not one, but two snow storms that came through. The kids ended up with two snow days and a delayed opening. They loved playing outside and getting to use some of their toys that have been sitting in the garage waiting for a snowfall. These snow skate boards where a huge hit. We had to improvise with some of our snow gear since a few growth spurts have occurred and we haven’t had a reason to buy new ones. They totally made it work, and all fun was had.
Can we talk about this AMAZING snow sculpture they made?!? Meet, Freddy the yeti. I could not believe how huge it turned out! It was really funny because over time he started to lean forward, and from our back door, it looked like he was ready to start walking away. C came running for us and thought the yeti was coming to life.
We also realized this was Graham’s first time seeing snow. He is not a big barker, but sure enough, he was barking out the door and did not want to go outside at first. It wasn’t until he saw the boys out playing that he jumped off the porch and started running laps through our Christmas trees. He ended up loving it! He would whine at the door to go outside and sit in the snow. It’s now a muddy melted mess. Fun times.
Thrifting
I shared in my instagram stories over the weekend that my boys love thrifting and finding a good deal. For little men, they sure have a sense of fashion and are building their sneaker collection. Some of their best pairs are secondhand and I love that they are understanding that having a certain style doesn’t have to come with a ridiculous expense. They both found great pairs on our recent trip. It’s amazing what you can come across at times. Both of the pairs they found retail for over several hundred dollars and they got them for $25 each! I also love that their excitement spills over into getting them home, cleaning them up, washing or replacing the laces, and figuring out how to style them. We got them this sneaker cleaning kit for Christmas and it has been a big hit. If you have a sneakerhead this makes for a great gift!
Did Someone Say Basketball
You all might have thought I was joking when I mentioned you can find me almost all winter on the court. Between our beloved Sixers games, the kids practices and cheering them on for their league, basketball is a big part of this time of year for us.
A and I also got to enjoy a special mother and son date night and share in some great memories and big wins.
Recent Reads
I’m two books in for the year and thankful for my momentum. I’m hoping to hit a goal this year of 30 books. While that might seem like nothing to some, it’s a realistic doable goal for me while juggling all the other areas of our life. The past two years I’ve had a goal of 24 books, and have come in at 27. I’m hoping to work a few more in this year. My library requests are rolling in with others already in queue, and my TBR is expanding. Do you have any must read books this year?
Recent Purchases
You might have seen that I shared this electric scrubber in my stories and I am hooked. I was skeptical at first because these have been floating around with a lot of influencers. Well, I like to do my due diligence and make sure the purchase is worth it for me before I jump on a trend and commit to spend. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t to dig at anyone else, but a lot that I saw being shared were, well, cheap. I read a lot of reviews and wanted to find one that didn’t lose power or stop spinning if you put pressure on it. Let’s face it, it is supposed to be a scrubber, so I need the thing to scrub. Thankfully, that’s what this one does. I’ve had no issues with it not spinning if pressure is applied, and it does what it’s supposed to do. Now, I do also think that it depends on the cleaning products you use as well, but for me in a house with all boys, this has been a great cleaning addition. The kids even think it’s cool and like using it to help clean.
The sweet Andrea got me hooked on these Notes candles. You all, I am in love! These sustainable non-toxic candles are now a favorite. I found the refill scents on a major sale and went to our local store for pick up. I’m now stocked up for awhile.
I’ve been loving cozy sweatshirts/sweaters during this winter season and figured I would share a few in my rotation. This turtleneck pullover in coffee grey has been one of my favs. This half zip hoodie has been one of my most reached for. It’s perfect with leggings and sneakers that pulls a put together look with minimal effort. This pleated sweatshirt is a great piece to dress up or dress down, and with a neutral color, it makes it very versatile. It’s also lightweight, so I know I’ll also be wearing this in the spring.
